If I could rule
I'd dance my cares away
Find romance every day
You wouldn't have to listen to this poor fool say

Mrs. Livingston, teacher of my high school poetry class, played this song as an example of modern poetry. I was most impressed that she, being the old lady I thought she was at the time, even knew who Seals and Crofts were. She was younger then than I am now. Funny how life changes one's perspective.

I remember sitting in my dad's home office [he used a card table for a desk] when I was a kid and listening to a Seals and Crofts 8 track tape on his headphones.
Hummingbird, don't fly away...
Saw them the summer of '77 or '78 - and in the same year, England Dan (Seals) & John Ford Coley @ the Music Mill Amphitheatre @ Six Flags.
And KC & the Sunshine Band - but don't tell anybody...
Jarhead, I remember this song playing on the radio when I was 14 and taking driver's ed. We weren't supposed to have the radio playing.
Don, your secret is safe with me but I want to know if you wore your boogie shoes.
I lived in the back of beyond KS where opportunities to see live music when I was young were practically nil.
LOTS of dirty hippies.
My favorite S&C song is an easy one since it still gets lots of air- Summer Breeze. Man, what a good song. As an 8 year old boy I listened to it on a gigantic TV/record player/FM radio contraption that was in a wooden cabinet. I don't even know what those things were called, but they invariably got repurposed as a TV stand for the new set when when the one in the cabinet failed- you'd see a smaller set on top of them.
@ Kevin1 - Naw, didn't own any boogie shoes (if an SS officer, KGB agent or rogue sheriff told me to dance to save my life - I'd be summarily executed). A cute young thing named Terri and I watched the KC show from the safe distance of the lower level (and relative privacy - only two other couples there) of the orange tower. ;-)
@ Kevin2 - Console TV. I'm really only a step away from those, since I don't yet have a flat TV. OK, well I have one small flat DTV, but still have two box type TVs.
Oops, the @Kev1 should have been Jen.
That's my favorite Seals and Crofts song too, Chup.
