Curmudgeonly Rant

I admit I don't go to church. I have thought about going back but merely for the social aspect, not because of any deep-seated religious reasons. While I admire the convictions that make some church people go door to door trying to drum up business, I am getting a little tired of people coming to my door every weekend. Somehow I seem to have been put on a list for visitation by at least three denominations, none of which I have ever had any affiliation. I've told them all on numerous ocassions I am not interested. I guess I've not been forceful enough, and need to stop being polite. I could stop answering the door but I feel a little foolish because if I am sitting on the couch they can see me through the window. The last time this happened I was babysitting my youngest grandson. I was feeding him a bottle and trying to get him to sleep. I had to get up holding the half asleep baby without dislodging the bottle and try to hold back an 80 pound barking dog. "Did I catch you at a bad time," she asked. Ya think? It's a good thing people can't read minds or I'd have every church lady in the county at my door trying to save me.

P.S. I'm not a complete pagan. I do have a personal relationship with God. My beliefs just don't always coincide with church dogma.

Those religious type people are all hellfire and condemnation. I tend to think that we get do-overs. Fear is how those particular souls like to dominate the masses. In my particular set of beliefs, they will be in for a surprise when they get to the other side.

I wont even get started on this subject....

pushy people bother me, religious pushy people are the world's worst. I think our No Trespassing sign has been working, no Jehovah visits in awhile now :)

It's hot here. Our pool has seen a lot of action this last week. BG

If you'd been pagan you'd have released the hound, without warning. Put a note, in big bold letters, on your front door that says;

"If you're a proselytizer, who's about to knock on my door, you think I'm going to Hell. If you're a proselytizer who knocks on my door, I'll be taking you to Hell with me, momentarily. For the love of God and all that you hold sacred, leave me the fuck alone."

Mango, I like how you think. If God is our Father and God is perfect then He loves us unconditionally. I think judging and condemnation are man made things.

BG, ditto on the pushy people. I kinda knew how you felt on the subject from your past blog posts. Stay cool in the pool.

Oh Chup, be nice or I will get you with my pitchfork. I said church ladies but I've actually had more church men than women knocking in my door.

Prop, there is a No Soliciting sign on the door but they must not consider what they do as soliciting.
