it IS a bull snake, right? I didn't kill him because I hate killing things and because I would have had to step over him to get into the building where my hoe is stored. {{{SHIVER}}}} He didn't have a rattle and his head wasn't shaped like an arrow so I don't think he's poisonous. (I was not as close to him as it looks like I was, but I WAS closer than it was comfortable to be.)

I named her Dana.
You keep your ho stored in a shed?
I keep my ho locked in the basement.
OK, very good name! Sorry deleted other comment- she's little different variation, but yes just verified with fellow snkae epert colleague- she is a bullsnake. Good for you- let her live and freak people out with how brave you are!
Jarhead, I can't think of a smart come back except, "that's no way to speak of your wife," but that would be insulting to your lovely wife.
Chup, RE the name: she reminds me of another predator who ridded me of some vermin.
I wondered why you deleted your first comment. I looked at pics of bull snakes online and at first I wasn't convince either, but then I found a couple of pictures that were close to what she looks like. (the darker head is the main difference.)
I wouldn't exactly call myself brave.
And yes it's a girl- you can tell by all the curves.
I know a couple of guys, if they had a snake and a ho, they'd be sleeping with their ho. I'm not going to name any names.
When I was a teenager a snake WAS a ho. When a girl of questionable morals walked by the boys would go "SSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
All of the snake and ho talk is amusing me.
I saw a similar such reptile on the street, live, as I got home from the Eagles concert in the wee hours of Sunday morning, just around the corner from my house. I did not try to run over it. About 30-36".
My daughter loves to look for the little snakes under the walkway stones.
