Yeah, and people in hell want ice water...

I was reminded again this morning about the book and dvd set called The Secret. You've probably heard of it, especially since it was touted as the second coming by Oprah about a year and a half ago. I think it's a load of hogwash but I'm not saying it doesn't work. I'm saying it doesn't work in the way it's said to work. It certainly worked for its author; he wrote it all down and has made millions. I'm not saying the power of positive thinking doesn't work either. What I am saying is those that want something badly enough are more apt to work hard to get what they want, and that sometimes those people get what they want due to a sense of entitlement and questionable ethics. Just because you want something doesn't mean you deserve it. Yes, there is a back story for the reason I question the veracity of the book and its teachings but I'm not going to tell you right now.

You are fairly familiar with my belief that who each of us is and what each of us has is solely up to what each of us does.

Yep! "The Secret" is CRAP.

Here is the not so "Secret" TRUTH for EVERYONE.

1. Decide what you want out of life.
2. Make decisions consistent with obtaining what you want.
3. Work hard.
4. Get up when you have been knocked down.
5. Work harder.
6. Get up when you have been knocked down.
7. Make smarter personal choices and stop doing what keeps getting you knocked down.
8. Work hard.
9. Get up when you have been knocked down.

Oh, one other really important thing;

10. NEVER, EVER for ANY reason bitch about anything unless bitching about it makes it better and/or you plan on doing something about it.

You're Welcome

I should write a book but the TRUTH to people getting what they want is just that simple.

You SHOULD write a book. It's always surprising to me that the truth is nothing more than common sense, but sometimes it's not recognized for one reason or another. Sometimes it's easier to ignore if it's not what you want to hear.

Ah, but everyone these days just wants to be happy. Easy as pie, huh?

I like the title to this post, as it was always my Dad's rejoinder to "I want..." After awhile, I got the message. I think I was 15, out of school for the summer, sitting around the house, expressing my "wants" for this or that. Dad's advice was concise: "Get up off your a** and get a job." From then on, I always had a summer, or after-school job.

Yes, I got the same saying from my parents for the same reasons you did, that one and, "want in one hand and @#$% in the other and see which one gets full the fastest." My family is just philosophical like that. ;P

>>Want in one hand...<< Yeah, I heard that one too!

But, as usual Mz is right. The harder I work- the luckier I get.
