The wedding I posted about before is a week and some change away. I hear the ex wants to attend and bring that...woman...but not if I'm going to be there. He says it would be too Jerry Springerish for both his ex-wife and his mistress to be there. I am sort of enjoying putting a kink in the plans for her grand introduction to the extended family. Let them eat cake...
I'm looking forward to spending time with my family back home.
I'm trying to convince my sister that she and I need to do a road trip to Red River, NM over a long weekend just to relax and soak in the mountain air & scent of the pines. I grew up on treeless plains but I get homesick for trees and mountains.
The weather the last two days has been a wonderful reprieve from the stifling heat and humidity we've had of late. I want to move to a place where they have this kind of weather year-round. Barring that, I want to move back to Northwestern New Mexico.

Got to agree, NM sounds like fun this time of year.
Have only spent a bit of time in the state - Albuquerque, Santa Fe & Taos, plus several passes through Raton on the way to CO & WY.

Don't let an ex good/bad/evil/decent have any effect on decisions you make unless it will truly impact children or grandchildren.

I hope you have a fabulous time reconnecting with your family during a family gathering. Let your ex introduce his floozy at some random event that is not about family. As for the side trip to Red River, take it. If you are driving, just kidnap your sister and make her take the trip with you. If you happen to go through Roswell, you have to go to the International UFO Museum and Research Centre aka Alien Museum. It is great fun and more fun to see your friend's reactions when you tell them you went to the Alien Museum.
